The Dry Appliance Installer module teaches the skills required for the installation of solid fuel and biomass dry appliances. This 2-day module is made up by 9 learning objectives taught over 2 days and is assessed both practically and with a desk-based assessment. This module goes in depth and covers many sections for all installations, and with the Dry Installation accreditation, you are eligible for the HETAS CPS (Competent Person Scheme)

Course Content:
  • Operating principles of dry solid fuel and biomass wood appliances
  • Appliance selection and determination of minimum operating efficiencies
  • Suitability testing and fault diagnosis for chimneys and flue systems
  • Requirements and suitability checks for hearths and fire surrounds
  • Identification of unsafe situations and correct response
  • Installation requirements and practical installation competence
  • Commissioning requirements and verification checks
  • Handover of an installed appliance, including user briefing and documentation
Course Prerequisites:

HETAS Core Knowledge and Chimneys and Flues, and evidence of at least one of the following:

  • Demonstrable, appropriate previous work experience
  • OFTEC technician – 101, 102, or 105e
  • Registered Gas Safe operative – CCN1 & HTR1
